My goal is to support clients to recognize and utilize their strengths and find resilience through coping. Life is challenging, and people often become depressed, anxious, or find themselves struggling in the aftermath of significant loss or transition. Some people have had traumatic experiences that continue to impact functioning, or are facing challenges within relationships. As a therapist, my goal is to join my clients as they journey toward healing.
I earned my Master of Science degree in Community Counseling and Human Development from Radford University in 2011 and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2017. I have provided mental health and case management services to adults, adolescents, and children in both community and school settings.
I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, personality disorders, life transitions, attachment issues, and couples counseling. My general approach to counseling integrates aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal and communication skill building, insight oriented therapy, and spiritual development.
I continue to grow in my faith and am a member of Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church in Pearisburg. I know my relationship with God has provided me strength and assurance, and I value the opportunity to help others develop their own relationships with God. For those who do not identify as Christian, I can provide secular counseling as well.
I feel blessed to have lived in the New River Valley for many years. In my free time, I enjoy being with family and friends, hiking, reading, watching YouTube videos and classic movies, listening to a variety of music, traveling, baking, and hanging out with my crazy cats.
I work in the community during the week, and am available only for Saturday appointments at this time.
