About Tiffany McCann-Vaught, LPC

Life isn't easy for anyone, sometimes things are hard to figure out, and sometimes you just need to talk to someone.

Tiffany McCann-Vaught is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) as well as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). She has her PBS-F certification as well.

Tiffany is a life-long Virginia resident with strong family roots in Southwestern Virginia. Born in Tazewell County Virginia, she and her family relocated to the New River Valley in 1998. Tiffany completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Radford University in 2004, followed by a Master of Arts in Human Services with a concentration in Business Management from Liberty University in 2006. Following this, Tiffany decided to pursue additional education to become a licensed professional counselor, wherein she obtained a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012. While attending VCU, Tiffany became a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor.

Tiffany has worked in the human services field for more than a decade, with local companies like Creative Family Solutions, Family Preservation Services, and New River Valley Community Services. She has worked with children and adults aged 3 - 80+ and has extensive experience in working with people diagnosed with physical and intellectual disabilities.

Tiffany focuses on solution focused counseling, and prefers cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative counseling, and motivational interviewing methods as some of her therapeutic tools. Her speciality continues to be trauma.

She has experience using play therapy, sand therapy, and positive behavioral support techniques. She has a wide range of experience in working with various diagnoses including, but not limited to: Anxiety, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Panic Disorder, Personality Disorders, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, substance use, and more. Tiffany also enjoys working with couples, and can do so on a case by case basis, depending on availability.

Further, Tiffany is a dedicated Christian who relies strongly on her faith and belief in God to help with life's challenges, and day to day occurrences. Tiffany really enjoys getting to know people and helping them build their faith and their life, and feels counseling is her true calling.

Tiffany and Lisa met when they worked as school based counselors in Shawsville, where they discovered they both shared a similar style of counseling, and a passion to be able to use their Christian faith as part of their work, and now - working together in private practice, they are able to do just that!

Tiffany continues to work in the community as well, and as a result, offers evening and weekend hours by appointment.  Her email is [email protected]  Her direct line is 540-392-1125. Please leave a voicemail (or e-mail) if you would like to be contacted about setting up an appointment.
